fasterDATA, ANALYTICS & RISK Podcast - Alex Kimber
Optimising Data and Analytics Architecture
Alex Kimber - Global Head of Monte Carlo Compute Grids, Credit Suisse
Alex Kimber discusses the data and processing challenges for Credit Suisse as the demand for intraday pricing and rapid response builds and end of day or scheduled analysis runs are no longer acceptable. The strains on the infrastructure are significant but expansion can be expensive and ultimately unsustainable - as evidenced when Credit Suisse increased its servers from 300-2300 in only a two year period. Alex explains how the company now plans to harness dual and quad-core technologies for quantum gains in processing power, a reduction in actual CPUs, and contained energy consumption and impact on the datacenter.
